Core Specifications

• Material: Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)

• Shore Hardness: 85A (Highly soft and elastic)

• Elongation at Break: Excellent (typically over 500% to 700% depending on the exact formulation)

Recommended Print Settings

• Nozzle Temperature: 200°C to 230°C (up to 250°C for some multi-material setups)

• Bed Temperature: 35°C to 60°C

• Print Speed: 15 mm/s to 40 mm/s (max 80 mm/s for well-tuned direct-drive systems)

• Retraction: Minimal to none (e.g., < 1 mm at slower speeds) to avoid clogs

• Nozzle Size: 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm (Standard 0.4 mm nozzles may struggle or clog with 85A)

Printer & Hardware Requirements

• Extruder: Direct-drive extruder strongly recommended. Bowden setups can cause the soft filament to buckle and tangle inside the tube.

• Bed Surface: Powder-coated or textured PEI plate. Glass beds require a glue stick or painter's tape to prevent the TPU from bonding permanently.

• Enclosure: Not required. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Filament Handling & Prep

• Moisture Sensitivity: TPU 85A is highly hygroscopic (absorbs moisture rapidly).

• Drying: Dry at 60°C to 70°C for 6 to 8 hours before use. Print directly from a dry box

Recommended Print Settings

To achieve the best results with Kingroon ASA, the material requires an enclosed 3D printer and the following approximate parameters:

Nozzle Temperature: 215°C to 240°C

Heatbed Temperature: 100°C to 110°C

Print Speed: 40 mm/s to 60 mm/s

Cooling Fans: 0% to 30% (low cooling prevents warping and splitting)

Build Surface: A glue stick or specialized adhesive is highly recommended for proper bed adhesion.
